Hot enough for you? Try Ice Cream!

Thursday, July 30, 2009 Posted by Rita A

With so many areas of the country baking in record temperatures, it made me think about how fast they have to eat their ice cream. Ice cream has always been my mothers favorite treat and she has at least six flavors at a time in her freezer year round. I am considering getting a home ice cream maker to experiment with flavors. I found some great, interesting recipes for ice cream.

On there is a fantastic Cherry Ice Cream recipe that does not require a machine or eggs to make it. It even uses Amaretto as an optional ingredient which enhances the cherry flavor per soupbelly. Simple enough recipe for those of us without an ice cream maker.

For an Adults only Ice pop, Food and Wine is featuring Blueberry-Peach Tequila Popsicles using fresh peaches, blueberries and Tequila. Count me in in this one.

For my interesting recipe of the day I found a Coconut Avocado ice cream recipe at taste duds. It uses 2 to 3 avocados with coconut milk and vodka. Another adult only recipe. Where do they come up with this stuff?

Last but not least a creative ice cream: Spaghettieis - Spaghetti Ice Cream Sundae from Germany. This is created by pressing ice cream through a potato ricer making the noodle shape then covering with a strawberry sauce, sprinkle with coconut flakes as cheese. Clever.

Today try a one or two scoop ice cream cone, let it drip down your arm, get it all over your face, then make that yum its ice cream smile.
