National Waffle Day

Today is National Waffle Day. Whether you like them out of the freezer box or homemade, it is a day to honor the syrup holding squares. Waffles can be eaten at anytime of the day. They can be made sweet for breakfast or savory with meats for dinner. My family makes ice cream sandwiches out of waffles. We use 2 waffles with softened ice cream in between then sprinkle powdered sugar over the top. Delish. I found a few wonderful waffle recipes to try.

On the blog Une-Duex Senses a Chocolate-Banana waffle is featured. The waffle is made from Trader Joe's multi grain mix with mashed bananas and chocolate chips. Sounds like a tasty combination.

From The Boastful Baker blog Chocolate Waffle Cookies made from Martha Stewart's Cookies. These cookies are made in a waffle maker for quick baking. They are finished with a white chocolate glaze. Decadent. These would be great served as a dessert with strawberries.

Finally a savory waffle meal. On Mike's Table there is a recipe for Pulled Beef over sweet potato waffles with a Chile Tamarind BBQ sauce. Wow. I bet this flavor combination explodes on your taste buds. Something to definitely try. He shows step by step photos of the recipe as part of the post. Yum.
