Allermates - Review with Giveaway

Tuesday, March 02, 2010 Posted by Rita A

Do you have a child with food allergies? Maybe you know someone who does. Nearly 15 to 20% of all children have some type of allergy. My nephew has an allergy to peanuts. The poor guy has been rushed to the hospital twice which is two times to many. My sister is always prepared and he has been very educated on what he has to avoid. It is often scary to think of him on school outings or at sporting events. Enter Allermates. Fun wristbands or dog tags to help identify kids with allergies. Allermates are kid friendly allergy awareness accessories.

More and more kids are becoming multiple allergic. Allergies are quickly becoming the leader in children's chronic diseases. Allermates wants to bring awareness and safety to the issue of child allergies. Allermates is the creation of Iris, a mom with a son who suffers from multiple allergies.

With allergies on the rise and many of my friends and family members facing similar issues, I realized that there was a great need for kid friendly allergy awareness products. I decided to create products that would not only help protect kids with allergies, but ones that would also make them feel good about themselves regarding their allergies. Products that were fun, colorful and, let's face it "cool". I noticed how most kids I knew, including my own, were absolutely fascinated by colorful characters. Next thing I knew, I was placing a help wanted ad for a cartoonist! And so P. Nutty and the rest of the gang were born.

The styles of Allermates are filled with cute cartoon characters for each allergy. P. Nutty is an adorable peanut guy wearing a baseball hat for kids with peanut allergies. Eggie for egg allergies, Pint for dairy and five more friendly faces for dangerous allergies, with more coming soon. Besides the cool characters the designs of the wearables are perfect for kids to wear. The kids will love wearing the Allermates Wristbands in the bright fun colors. Allermates also comes as a dog tag with a cord for a different style.

Courtesy of Allermates, I was sent the P. Nutty character wrist band plus 2 dog tags. My nephew thought they were so cool. He put the wristband on right away. One of the dog tags, he attached to his school backpack and has the other tag set up on the necklace to put on anytime he is going to an event. He loved the colors and the peanut cartoon. He remembers to wear it because they are so much fun. I am thrilled with his reaction. When I saw the Allermates I could not get over the cuteness. Beyond the cuteness the idea is very clever. They look like something a kid would wear instead of the classic medic alert jewelry. Coming soon from Allermates are t-shirts, danglers, lunch bags and much more. More allergies will be added to the character line up too.

The prices at Allermates are extremely reasonable. The wristbands and dog tags are only $7.99 each. A small price to pay for allergy awareness. Besides the kids love to wear them. It makes them more aware as well as others around them. You can order directly from Allermates store. If you know someone who could use an Allermates but are not sure of which allergy, you can also purchase a gift certificate for the parent to order. Spread the word to all your parent friends out there. This is a great idea and a fun product. Have them check out Allermates.

Here is your chance to win! Allermates is offering to one lucky reader a wristband/dog tag combo. One wristband and one dog tag in the choice of allergy character. Thank you Allermates!
