Hershey's S'mores Summer Fun - Giveaway

Monday, April 19, 2010 Posted by Rita A

Nothing says summertime fun like country music and the classic combination of pure Hershey®’s Milk Chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows. Hershey®’s brand and Rascal Flatts have partnered to help fans celebrate summertime S’mores with the release of “Your Day to Get Away,” an exclusive downloadable song available only at PureSmores.com.

Starting today, April 19th,  fans can preview the new Rascal Flatts’ song specially written for Hershey’s! With a purchase of a Hershey's Bar six pack, the first 350,000 fans can download the entire song from PureSmores.com. You can look at fun gallery photos of Rascal Flatts and videos too!

Who doesn't love those warm gooey, chocolaty, marshmallow treats in a tasty graham cracker. Mmmm. S'mores makes you feel like a kid anytime. I remember my first ever s'mores way back when I was in the Girl Scouts. It was on a weekend camping trip and it was hard to even say the word. But once I tasted one... the word s'mores was imbedded in my taste memory forever. To this day I still make them the same way as the original. S'mores are a timeless treat. I have seen fancy s'mores made by chefs and gourmet shops. Hershey's even has recipes for s'more treats. I always come back to the simple original taste of graham crackers, marshmallows made with Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar.

Did you know you can make s'mores anytime in the microwave? Yes you can have the gooey treats in a matter of seconds.
Here's How:
1. On a small saucer, place 1/2 of a HERSHEY'S Milk Chocolate Bar on top of one-half of a HONEY MAID Honey Graham. Add one large JET-PUFFED Marshmallow.
2. Cook in your microwave on medium for about 10-15 seconds or until marshmallows puff and grow.
3. An adult should remove the plate from the microwave, top with the other graham half and gently press down on the gooey marshmallow. Let cool a bit before eating.

It is so quick and simple, you could have them for afternoon snacks for the kids or for sleepover parties. If you are like me, they are good anytime you want the unbeatable s'mores taste with the melted Hershey's chocolate.

Visit Puresmores.com to explore the world of smore's. You can make a virtual s'more to share with your friends on facebook. Warning it will make you start craving s'mores. You can also find ideas and more information about Rascal Flatts.

S'mores and s'more making are always . . . ALWAYS (almost singing) better in the planning and remembering stages of every camping trip I have ever been on.

Most s'mores on our camping trip after the first one end up being me and my brother and sister fighting over who had more chocolate bars, and taking home an entire box of graham crackers with only 2 squares taken out and actually used to produce the dreamy and elusive S'more.

But now with the invention of microwave s'mores, some more (hee hee) of the tasty treats actually make it past the ingredient phase to the finished product phase.

    Thanks Hershey! Hope I win!

The first year I taught PreK, my partner teachers and I had a camping day for our classes. We brought in a fire ring and let the kids roast their own marshmallows for the smores. Many of them had never had the chance to do that before. I love that I get to be part of their memory of that day!

My favorite memory of making Smores was in Brownies when my mom was one of the brownie leaders. Our craft that day had making a sitting pad for a camping trip. We used two or three old magazines and covered them with two pieces of vinyl, cut in squares. One for the top and one for the bottom, then we used a punch to punch holes about an inch apart all the way around the vinyl pieces. Then we used twill or heavy yarn and slip stitched the vinyl pieces together with the magazines sandwiched between. Then they told us how to sandwich some goodies together to make a yummy camping treat. Then they taught us about making Smores. Next we got to do that. We sat on our mats we made and ate the treats we made. Then another leader told us a ghost story. It wasn't too scary though because we weren't on an outing, we were just at the school where we usually met for our weekly brownie meeting.

My favorite memories are those of my kids' sticky faces covered with marshmallow goo after downing way too many S'mores on a camping trip.
