Mother's Day Gift Idea - TRIA Laser Hair Removal System {Review}

Monday, April 12, 2010 Posted by Rita A

Have you ever thought about getting laser hair removal treatments? The cost is very prohibitive for most people. With Mother's Day coming and summer on its way, here is a new device for home use. TRIA Laser Hair Removal System.

The FDA has cleared TRIA for over the counter distribution. TRIA is the first and only at-home hair removal device clinically proven to deliver permanent results. 82% of dermatologists prefer lasers to any other technology for permanent hair removal results. TRIA has been initially approved by the FDA since 2008, It has been mentioned in many beauty magazines since its release. The second generation of the TRIA LHRS was launched in late 2009 which brought more power settings for improved comfort. It is also available at a 40% lower price than the original. Now home laser permanent hair removal is more affordable for consumers!

How it works:
TRIA LHRS works for men or women with light to medium skin tones with brown to black hair. It works by reacting to the dark pigment of the hair. TRIA can be used on legs, underarms, bikini line, back etc, anywhere suitable below the neck. Currently TRIA laser is not FDA approved for use on the face, head, ears or neck. TRIA works by beams of laser energy are absorbed by the dark pigment of the hair, converting it into heat which disables the hair follicle. The growing process is halted. The full hair growth cycle takes about 8 months so treatment with the TRIA is over an 8 month duration. The first treatments are once every two weeks for 3 months then once a month for 5 months is required to achieve complete results.

Easy to use:
Following 5 simple steps and you are on your way to seeing hair removal results.
1. Get ready
Cleanse, shave, and towel-dry the skin.

2. Check skin tone
Apply the TRIA skin sensor (included) firmly against your skin in the area you plan to treat, then press the blue button until the light turns green.

3. Get comfortable
Select the highest comfort level that suits your personal tolerance by pressing the blue button once for Level 1 (low), twice for Level 2 (low-medium), three times for Level 3 (medium), four times for Level 4 (medium-high), and five times for Level 5 (high).

4. Apply and overlap
Apply the tip of the laser to the skin. Wait for the beep, then reapply by slightly overlapping the previous area. Repeat until you have covered the entire section you wish to treat.

5. Repeat
Once every other week for the first 3 months. Once per month for the next 5 months.

My results:
I am thrilled to have been sent a TRIA LHRS for personal review. First off I like the looks of the unit. It is easy to hold and has a professional feel to it. With the help of the instruction booklet, it was easy to check my skin type with the TRIA Skin Sensor. You must activate the laser unit each time of use with the skin sensor. Once the TRIA is activated you simply press the unit to the skin, wait for the beep indicator and move the unit to an overlapping area of skin. The average time for treatment depends on the location of use. Legs can take 20 minutes, bikini line - 10 minutes, underarms - 5 to 7 minutes.

I am the perfect skin type candidate for the TRIA system. I have very fair skin with Italian heritage dark hair. The skin sensor gave me my setting to use and activating the unit was as simple as waving the skin sensor in front of the main TRIA unit. It is easy to hold. My first treatment took me a little longer to be sure I was doing everything correctly. I did experience a slight discomfort in sensitive areas that felt like a slight rubberband slap against the skin. It is brief and not enough to make me quit the procedure. I have done two treatments since I have had the TRIA and it will take several more over the period of 8 months. I find the TRIA a wonderful addition to my beauty regimen. I devote the time it takes, only twice so far, with the hopes of it being so permanent I will never have to shave again. That idea alone is so worth using the TRIA. It is too early to tell how my results will be but for ease of use I highly rate the TRIA LHRS.

The Price:
The average physician fee for a series of 5 to 8 laser treatments can range from $1050 and $2800 per body area. Over time those costs really add up. The TRIA LHRS is available for purchase at $595, saving thousands of dollars over professional treatments and it is done in the comfort of your home! Consider the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System for a Mother's Day gift for your mom or yourself!

Hi Rita- Please update us every so often with your results. I would love to purchase this if it really works. Too bad you cannot use it on facial hair though :-(
