I was curious about "then" and took a moment to ask my mom what laundry was like when I was little. Her responses brought back memories of growing up. Back then, as mom tells it, we had 3 sets of clothes. School clothes, Sunday best and play clothes. By keeping them separate, the wear and stains were greatly reduced. If you got a stain on the play clothes... who cared! We wore them anyway or we covered them with sewn on patches. If stains got too bad, pants became shorts, dresses became shirts, and t-shirts became cleaning rags. The washing machines were not the best back then either and many families did not have their own washers and dryers. Many loads of laundry were washed by hand and hung out on lines to dry. (no we did not pound them on rocks, although I feel that old). I remember the clothes line area in the apartment complex we lived in. It was always filled with hanging laundry. For big jobs it was trips to the laundromat.
Now we live in a community of HE (high efficiency) washing machines. I just recently purchased a new HE washer and dryer set. My older machine burst and flooded the entire laundry room. Disaster of epic proportions. It was a tsunami in the hallway. I am now getting used to the HE machine which uses less water and is more efficient. I am excited that Wisk is helping with stain fighting. Did you know that Wisk was the first liquid laundry detergent to market in 1956? Wisk has been doing laundry for 50 years!
