King Arthur Flour - Scone Gift Giveaway (ends 12/9)
Tuesday, November 30, 2010 Posted by One 2 Try
Courtesy of King Arthur Flour, I was able to experience one of their fabulous gift sets. The Scone Gift - Large includes everything you need to have fresh baked scones at home. The kit contains one each English Cream Tea scone mix and Apricot Sour Cream scone mix; one each brandy butter and marmalade, in 2.4-ounce jars; and a 1-ounce jar of clotted cream. The mixes are so easy to make. For the Cream Tea Scones you need salt eggs and heavy cream to add to the mix. The dough is easy to mix and simple to cut into 8 scone wedges. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes. The aroma is very inviting. It is best to serve warm. You can top with any of the toppings included or enjoy them as is. The taste is scrumptious. I liked the marmalade on mine. The Apricot Sour Cream Scones are a delightful flavor. They were very quick to make using salt, cold butter, egg and milk into the mix. The apricot pieces are visible in the batter and I could not wait to taste them. I loved the fruitiness of the apricot with the richness of the sour cream. These would be perfect for a brunch! Delicious!
Did you know King Arthur Flour has a Baking Hotline? The experts will help you with any baking question. Check out the many recipes too! Prepare to drool!

Wednesday, November 24, 2010 Posted by One 2 Try
My nephew received a letter Especially from Santa. With a little help from me, Santa knew my nephew loves lego sets and bike riding as well as he is excellent in math! In Santa's letter, directly addressed to him from Santa's North Pole Postal Service, Santa details a few of the things he is good at. Santa also included fun activity pages to color and play, plus a door hanger for Santa to see when he visits! Your child will be an official member of Santa's Nice List!
Santa’s “Special Deliveries” are perfect for ‘kids of all ages’ - Grandmas & Grandpas; Aunts & Uncles; Cousins; Widows & Widowers; Away-from-home Parents; State-side Military Personnel; Away-from-home Students; Missionaries; even Neighbors, etc. The letters are for anyone away from their families! This is one of the most thoughtful gifts that you could ever give! Pets are also on Santa's list, so let your special family member know of your affection for them, also!
Simply let the Elves know who it is that you would like to ‘touch’ with a very special Christmas letter EspeciallyFromSanta.com and the rest is done! All of these letters come from Santa Claus, even if he was inspired by your thoughtful whisper . . .
Send an Especially from Santa letter to someone special. Each letter is priced at a low price of $10.00. Provide a little requested information and your letter will be personalized direct from Santa. Hot for the Holidays: Puzzle Baron's Logic Puzzles - Giveaway (ends 12/2)
Tuesday, November 23, 2010 Posted by One 2 Try
Are you good at puzzles? How about Logic Puzzles? Those brain teasers that challenge kids and adults alike.
Stephen P. Ryder, aka “The Puzzle Baron,” founder and editor of the Puzzle Baron network of websites (PuzzleBaron.com), created this book with the intent to keep anyone occupied for hours. Logic Puzzles contains 200 grid-based puzzles and an additional 10,000 unique puzzles are available online at http://www.logic-puzzles.org/.
What is a Logic Puzzle?
The type of puzzle in Logic Puzzles is the logic grid. In each puzzle you are given a series of categories, and an equal number of options within each category. Each option is used once and only once. Your goal is to figure out which options are linked together based on a series of given clues. Each puzzle has only one unique solution, and each can be solved using simple logical processes (i.e. educated guesses are not required).
A custom-labeled grid is provided for every puzzle, like the one you see to the right. The grid allows you to cross-reference every possible option in every category. You can eliminate pairs you know aren't true with an X, and pencil in pairs you know are related with an O. If you know, for example, that Lauren wasn't born in 1961, you can add an X in the box where the Lauren column and 1961 row meet. Similarly, if you know that Bryant was born in 1971, you can add an O in the appropriate box. Furthermore, since every option can only be used once in any given puzzle, you can eliminate the four other options for Bryant in that category (1937, 1946, 1961, 1975) and the four other options for 1971 (Anahi, Jayden, Lauren and Nikolas).
Continue doing this for every clue you're given. Eventually you will have filled in enough X's and O's on the board that you will then be able to use simple logic to deduce the solution to the puzzle. For example, if A = B, and B = C, then A must equal C. Similarly, if A = B, and B =/= D, then A must not equal D.
You can purchase Puzzle Baron's Logic Puzzles at Amazon. Think about this book for a fun and mind engaging stocking stuffer!

Lucky Leaf Pie Fillings is happy to share the Blue Ribbon Recipe Challenge winning recipe. Gloria Herdman's Lucky Leaf Pot-A-Cakes. Made with Lucky Leaf Blueberry pie filling, cream cheese, vanilla instant pudding mix and cinnamon streusel quick bread mix plus a few other ingredients. I am saving this recipe to make for my Thanksgiving dessert. I can't wait to try it. It sounds so yummy! I did make another Lucky Leaf Recipe - Caramel Apple Gingerbread.
Ingredients
•1 package (14.5-ounce) gingerbread mix
•1 can (21 oz.) LUCKY LEAF APPLE PIE FILLING
•1/4 cup caramel-flavored ice cream topping
•Whipped topping
Directions
Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside. In a large mixing bowl prepare gingerbread mix according to package directions. Fold the apple pie filling into the batter. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Let cool about 30 minutes. Serve cake with caramel and whipped topping.
Makes 9 servings.
This was very tasty. I loved the warm apple flavor inside the gingerbread. The caramel sauce brings it over the top. It was quick to make too. It was a family hit!
Lucky Leaf provided the amazing pie fillings to make three fabulous recipes. I am drooling over the third recipe - Cherry Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake. I know, doesn't that sounds decadent and Heavenly? I am planning on this for my Christmas Eve dinner. It is so tempting to make it early. I just might have to break down. It is seriously calling my name.
