Starting my blog move!

Tonight's the night (fingers crossed)! We are starting the process for the move to wordpress. Things may appear strange for a little bit and the comments will be closed TEMPORARILY for the switch. This will affect my current giveaways but no fear they will re-open for entries shortly.

I appreciate everyone's patience during this migration. I will be back with a whole new look and lots more fun coming.

Nutrisystem Nation Update: My first food order! #NSNation

I am very excited to be part of the Nutrisystem Nation Blogging Program. I received my first order a few days ago of the pantry items and the frozen foods arrived yesterday of the all new Gourmet Inspired Foods. The frozen meals are absolutely looking delicious.

As I was unpacking my frozen selections, my hubby was hovering over the box to see what good foods I get to have. Asian Style Beef,  Salisbury Steak with Macaroni and Cheese, for dinner. French Toast, Pancakes and Breakfast Burritos for breakfast. Roasted Vegetable pizza, Toasted Ham and Cheese for lunch and oh my the desserts. I get to have ice cream people!  Ice Cream Sandwiches, Orange Creme Bar, and  Fudge Swirl Sundae! Hubby was drooling over the meals. I might have to get a lock on the freezer to keep him away from my Nutrisystem Ice Cream. For now there is a post it note telling him to back away from the freezer.


I started my very first day on the New Nutrisystem program with a very tasty Breakfast Burrito, 1/4 cup of cottage cheese and one orange. I am satisfied, it is actually more that I would normally eat for breakfast. The burrito was pretty good. I could not have made a better burrito myself. It was simple to prepare, just a minute plus in the microwave and I was enjoying a delicious breakfast. I think it took me longer to peel the orange.

Keeping track of what you eat is the part I love best about Nutrisystem. They make it simple with the menu planner. You have spaces to write in each meal as well as check off boxes to make sure you are eating the proper meal components. When you see it on the page, it makes it easy to follow.

Guardsman: Furniture Care Products - Review

You could say my home decorating style is Early American Lived In. There is not a designer feel to my home at all. It is a warm and comfortable place. We have the pieces of useful furniture we need, mostly in a light wood color.


To help take care of my functional furniture, I had the opportunity to use the furniture care products from Guardsman. Guardsman has been caring for wood furniture since 1915.

I never realized how beautiful my dining room table could be. Using the Guardsman cleaners was easy to bring out the beauty. First I used the Wood Cleaner for deep cleaning. This amazing cleaner does the trick to remove dirt, grease and oil from the wood. It was easy to apply, simply spray on a soft cloth, I used the Guardsman applicator cloths for extra care, then wipe with the grain. Wipe the wood dry. I glanced at my cloth and boy did this do a great job of cleaning. I am not saying my table was dirty but Guardsman Wood Cleaner sure brought out some yuck. Now with a clean table I applied the Guardsman Wood Polish. There are no waxes or abrasives in the Wood Polish. Using the same technique as the cleaner, the wood polish left a nice clean shine. My table was so beautiful I removed the tablecloth and purchased place mats instead. It really brightened up the dining room. I have been using the wood cleaner and wood polish all around my home. Our computer office with two desks was next. It is mind boggling how much dust and dirt the monitors and the computers seem to attract. The Guardsman wood cleaner did the trick to remove what seems like years of work area gunk. The wood polish did such a nice job, I actually cleared my desk off. That's right no papers anywhere - for how long who knows but the shine is gorgeous.

In cleaning I did notice a few scratches in the wood. Guardsman does offer help for those little scratches. The Furniture Touch-Up Markers help hide those blemishes. Start with the light color marker, apply with the direction of the grain, then remove excess dye with a cloth. you may have to repeat the process a few times for the desired result. If the scratch needs to be darker you step to the medium color marker then the dark marker if needed. Allow the dye to set for a few minutes then polish. It really works! I repaired a scratch right in the middle of my desk that always bugged me. It is barely noticeable now and I don't have to cover it with papers.

Now that my desk was clean for an inviting work area, I turned my attention to my big leather desk chair. Guardsman Leather Clean & Renew Wipes did the trick quickly. Followed by the Leather Protector Wipes, my chair looks brand new!

It is not often in our lifetime that an artist makes such a lasting impression. Michael Jackson lived up to his name of The King Of Pop. The world has lost a great artist. I bet most of us can remember where we were when the news broke of his death. A sad day for music. As with the passing of many legends, it is only after we miss them, that we really see their true inspiration.




Michael Jackson's Vision on DVD is a tremendous amount of videos and music showcasing the very best of Michael. This journey through the years of musical talent and visual extravaganza is a pure joy for any Michael Jackson fan or music lover alike.

Michael Jackson's Vision is a 3 disc set containing more the 40 music videos many of which are short films. Much more than just music videos. This collection plays for more than four and 1/2 hours.

I have a few favorites - Remember The Time mesmerizes me each time I watch it. For pure fun I really enjoy The Way You Make Me Feel. I have to stop and watch the entire Thriller sequence from beginning to end. Love it. Think back to your own favorite of Michael's. There is something included for everyone in the collection of Vision. I really enjoyed watching Michael Jackson's Vision. It was such a treat to revisit those lasting videos from years back and watch others I had never seen before. Each of the short films have been restored and remastered for a full complete visual and audio experience. Actually I wish the quality were a little better. Some of the shorts seemed a little grainy in appearance. Thankfully is it not enough to deter from the visual effects or enjoyment of the music.

Michael may be gone, he will surely be missed, but the music and the Vision lives on!

I have been exploring healthier food options since the new year started. Something very different for me is Hemp Seeds.

Blog move delayed due to snow!

I live in Sunny Southern California. As mentioned a few days ago I am moving my blog to wordpress. The move was supposed to start today and continue for the next few days.

I have been delayed - DUE TO SNOW! Seriously snow! Not snow here in Southern Cal but where my designer lives in Georgia - she already has 6 inches of snow with ice and more snow on the way. It is all over the internet and news about the nasty storm headed to the South. Apparently it is the worst snow storm in over 10 years, expected to last a few days. Anticipating travel issues and power problems my move to wordpress has been postponed. Who knew I would be delayed due to snow? I think that is kind of funny coming from Southern California. We are in the midst of cool winter weather too - we are at a chilly 60 degrees and we are all freezing at that temperature. Brrrrr.

That's okay Angie - Stay safe and warm! We can get started soon enough when the storm passes. Most likely it will be next week. Stay tuned everyone!

I am a Nutrisystem Blogger - #NSNation

I am very excited to be part of the Nutrisystem Nation Blogging Program. Many of you may recall my success with Nutrisystem in 2010. I had lost 22 pounds! I have been able to keep most of the weight off in the months I have not been doing the program. I blame it on Holiday sweets and treats. A little weight creep up but it is not too unmanageable.

I am looking forward to trying the new Nutrisystem Gourmet inspired meals. I always thought the food was very tasty! Having new meals prepared by gourmet chefs should be a real taste sensation. There is a whole new line of frozen foods to try! YUM!

I am anxiously waiting for my very first order to arrive. I am making my list to get the additional fresh grocery items needed to compliment the Nutrisystem meals. You need fresh vegetables, dairy and fruits. All good for you foods.

I have decided to make the most of being active along with the Nutrisystem program. I have the tools in place for a fitness explosion. A set of hand weights, a fitness ball, a gym membership, an iPod filled with catchy workout tunes, new workout apparel and a super supportive hubby. I have an incentive too - a very important event happening in the summer!

I am prepared to sweat, eat right and follow my Nutrisystem Program to get me to my goal. Follow my journey! I will be sharing my updates in posts and occasional video reports.

It is finally happening! A move to Wordpress.

After contemplating moving my blog over to Wordpress for so long, I am finally making the jump. Going on behind the scenes at this very moment, my blog is being re-designed and streamlined a little for the move to Wordpress. It is very exciting to me and scary at the same time.

It should all go pretty seamlessly as a switchover. Most of you may not even be aware it has even occurred with the exception of the new design. It may take a few days for me to settle in to the new digs. It may take a while to figure out how to do some stuff but that is all part of the adventure. Learning something new and keeping it all fresh.

The move will be taking place starting this Monday and should be complete in a day or two (fingers crossed). Once the dust clears, I can begin posting fun reviews and giveaways again. I miss showcasing recipes so I think I will bring that feature back. I am thrilled to be making this switch after kicking and screaming for the past year about wanting to. A New Year brings a new look and new opportunities.

Bear with me while all the changes are taking place. I am pretty nervous -  I think I need a drink or two!

Doggie Couture Shop Celebrates my Fonzie's 1st Birthday!

My pup Fonzie will be 1 year old next week. He is a chihuahua dachshund mix and boy did we have a trying year with this little guy. Two days after we brought him home he developed Parvo and was hooked up on IV's at the vet for a few days and lots of meds afterwards. He pulled through. Then we found out he is allergic to a few vaccines and swelled up like a balloon on his little leg. More meds - simple benadryl for this one. He also decided to try and catch a bee, you guessed it he got stung and his face was a balloon instantly. A trip to the vet and more benadryl plus observation for other effects.

Training was a disaster. We enrolled in puppy school for 7 weeks. He flunked. Not only that, being in school made him agressive towards other dogs because a small little fluff ball kept trying to get him. He was ruined by public education we always say. It is a wonder why I love him so much. Once he looks at me then rolls over for belly scratches, I am a goner. Yes I spoil him all the time. My other dog too!


Doggie Couture Shop was so kind to help us celebrate his birthday. No birthday is complete without cake and ice cream so he got the cutest stuffed ice cream cone dog toy and an adorable birthday cake cookie!

The Ice Cream cone we got is the Chewy Garcia with bright pink ice cream and a cherry on top! Fonzie loves it! It is funny to see him carry it around. It actually makes me want ice cream.

The Birthday Cake Cookie is from healthy ingredients that dogs love. Peanut butter and whole wheat flour blended with other organic ingredients. The cake is frosted with Happy Birthday! Okay so this cookie was gone in a flash. Fonzie was so kind to share with our other dog Pepper and she licked all the frosting off her piece first. Before I knew it the cookie was history. It must have been very tasty. I did not even get to sing Happy Birthday it was gone so fast. The cookies are baked to order for freshness.

If you are like me, the most common New Year's resolution is better health. This year my get fit goal is my number one priority! I can use all the help I can get.

To help me get started on my fitness quest, Acacia was so kind to send me a few varied titles of Fitness DVD's. Being the beginner that I am to most of the intense workouts provided, I have to ease into the programs as I get stronger and more fit.

I liked the total package of Fit in 5. It is pretty intense and I felt this dvd is much more suited for a person in decent shape to further your fitness. It was a little difficult as a beginner, but I am looking forward to using it when I am at a better fitness level.

For a fun and exciting routine I really enjoyed the Hemalayaa: Bollywood Boogie Workout. Three 15 minute Dance-inspired workouts. It is fun to dance to the upbeat bhangra beats. The instructor Hemalayaa is enjoyable in personality. The dances are quick and flirty. She really knows how to move those hips! Moving to the music makes you forget you are getting a workout! With workouts titled Goddess & Inifusion, Hero & Heroine and Boogie All Around, you know you are in for some sexy and fun workout time. I wish my hips moved like that.

A second DVD from Hemalayaa is the Bollywood Party Workout. Here you get two 20 minute dance workouts. I really enjoyed the Wedding Party workout. It gets you moving as if you are attending a family event. Less sultriness and more overall moving. The House Party workout, As Hemalayaa describes it, is for when you are alone in your home with the music loud. Here you can release your wildness. Each workout can be done by trained dancers or beginners such as myself. You will tone and tighten to the infection beats of Bollywood. Love them!

Keeping Fit: Strength, Cardio, Pilates (3-pack) This DVD set is perfect for those of us in our 40's and beyond. Using he strength training and cardio will get those muscles and metabolism on the fast track. Pilates is also featured for muscle tone. I liked the easy format of Keeping Fit. The instructor Andrea Metcalf is calm while explaining the moves. I am new to Pilates so I was a little less coordinated in the moves but with more practice I think I can get it. The one good thing is she can't laugh at me and I can always rewind the DVD to get it just right.


My favorite of the Fitness DVD's provided by Acacia is the Strong Body, Fit Body. Erin O'Brien created a circuit workout. Each circuit is a brief 7 minutes in the workout. The workout includes a warmup, three circuits, from the top. floor work and a cool down. She is inspiring on this DVD. With just 7 minutes at a time I can easily keep up with the workout. All you need is a set of handweights. This is one I can really stick with because I like the brief circuits. I can find 7 minutes of time through out the day to do another circuit or combine them all at once. Fabulous!

All Natural Alexia Foods - Sweet Potato Review

I had a tasty side dish for my New Year's eve munchfest. All Natural Alexia Foods has introduced a new flavor - Crinkle Cut Sweet Potato: Sea Salt & Pepper!

I have always loved sweet potatoes and making them into fries is so delicious. Alexia Foods does it right! I baked the Alexia Sweet Potato fries in the past many times. It is one of my favorite side dishes. They are simple to make. Just bake in a 400 degree oven for about 25 minutes and serve while hot! These sure don't last long in my home. The sweet flavor with the nice crunch of a fry makes them oh so good to eat! The new Crinkle Cut Sweet Potato: Sea Salt & Pepper have a delightful taste. The salt adds just enough to give you the salty sweet combination flavor while the cracked black pepper adds a very welcome zing. They are addicting! Once baked, you get a crispy taste sensation. Perfect for fry lovers and sweet potato lovers. Make your meals colorful by serving these gorgeous orange fries as a side dish.

I also enjoyed a much heartier Waffle Cut Sweet Potato. These are perfectly seasoned with sea salt, onion, garlic and a hint of peppers. I liked the fun shape of the waffle cut. How do they do that? It makes for a nice size fry! They seemed to bake up easy too. The scrumptious taste kept us grabbing for more. I would definitely purchase these for dinners again anytime.
